Should You Consider Declawing?
Preface by Brian Bechtel

When I first met Bill Smith I was intrigued by his love and admiration for cartoon art. I am a cartoonist and the foundation of our friendship had always centered on this mutual fondness. Bill's dedication to his art and humor is nothing less than top notch. Bill Smith enjoys what he is doing and as you will see in this book, all art work reflects this. Bill has always spoken of wanting to publish his work, all of his friends and family backed this dream one hundred percent, why should we be the only ones exposed to such wonderful, whimsical and heart felt work? "Bill, don't deprive the public, get it out there!!"

Bill's ability to capture different attitudes within his art form, by using a variety of mediums and their application techniques, makes his art unique, and of course this is what all artists strive for! As you will discover when viewing this book Bill's imagination is alive and well with a large side order of humor. I have had the opportunity to visit Bill at his home and was invited into his art studio, I was amazed at the volume of work produced on canvas and paper and amazed on the amount of work he had plans to produce. Idea book after idea book with two or three projects brewing up in the back of his mind. Well, all I can say is that creativity is alive and well in Bill's studio!

As I have already mentioned, Bill and I share the same fondness for cartooning, and I have had the distinct pleasure to be able to collaborate with him on several comic strip ideas that we've submitted to the major syndicates. Through our collaboration I have gained an immense amount of insight and knowledge regarding the art of cartooning and humor. His creativity is contagious, as is his humor. I would like to personally congratulate Bill Smith on the publication of this book, his web page and the persistence it took to make his dream a reality. Your friendship, professionalism and collaboration will always be deeply appreciated.

Now go grab a hot chocolate, find a comfortable chair open his book and have a few chuckles on Bill!
